well the title pretty much says it. I'm an omnivore so the fact that these are gluten free is nice for celiacs. They are addictive, tasty and fill you up with less fat and empty calories than most other chips. Thumbs up.
Regardless of whether I am dieting, I would classify myself as a volume eater — I like to get a lot of food for my “calorie buck.” Clearly, the best choices for low-calorie, voluminous foods are fruits and vegetables.
Unfortunately, there are times when those fruits and veggies simply will not satisfy a snack craving; celery sticks hardly seem appropriate for a late-night movie viewing. There is no need to turn to fatty popcorn or vending machine fare when snack time rolls around, however. The solution to your noshing woes can be found from a certain Mr. Krispers.
Mr. Krispers produces an assortment of baked chips and crackers, from rice crisps to multigrain chips. The snacks most suited to the volume snacker’s appetite, however, are the Baked Rice Krisps. It is these snacks that provide relatively few calories despite their generous serving sizes.
Depending on the flavor, a serving of a whopping 30 to 40 rice crisps contains 110 to 120 calories and two or three grams of fat. Most provide a mere gram of fiber, but you can rest assured that these snacks are made from wholesome ingredients such as brown rice flour and whole grain yellow corn flour.
While these snacks are perfectly tasty straight out of the pack for snack time, they also make great meal components. Try serving them as with your favorite dip recipe, alongside a sandwich, or on top of soup.
There are currently six varieties available: salt and pepper, sour cream and onion, barbecue, sun-dried tomato and basil, nacho, and white cheddar and herbs. Only the barbecue and salt and pepper flavors are vegan.
